Install Crystal Reports

Crystal installation:
Crystal Reports installation provides the knowledge and skills to deploy and present business report statically and dynamically within the business environment. The Crystal Reports installation helps to deploy a report to a web server, Report Application Server or RAS and export the report to various business specific formats such as PDF, Word and Excel.

The first step in Crystal Reports installation is always to identify a data source. Much of the complexity of the database and the interaction with it is 'hidden' by the Crystal Reports technology and only effective report developers understand the data and effectively bring it into the system. The Crystal Reports installation involves the identification of the types of business data sources, introduction to the report oriented data explorer and database objects and links.

Installation requirements:

Crystal Reports installation helps the end user in understanding the different types of data sources. Regardless of which edition of the Crystal Reports is being installed, the minimum system requirements, from CD-ROM are standard. The installation involves the application of Microsoft Windows 98, the second edition, ME, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. There has to be a minimum of 32MB RAM or the 64MB required for the deployment of Windows NT. In fact, 64MB RAM is recommended for all operating systems.

Crystal Reports installation also requires a minimum of 60MB of hard drive space, with approximately 200MB maximum for English and up to 400MB for any other language. An additional 100 MB of free disk space is necessary on the 'C' drive for use by Windows in course of the Crystal Reports installation and a Pentium or a higher system processor is an absolute necessity.

A dedicated CD-ROM drive is another availability to check on and if you are planning a network installation of Crystal Reports 9.0, the preceding minimum requirements specified need to be adjusted. The adjustment would typically involve a hard drive space on the network server 217MB and a hard drive space is needed on the user workstation 105MB. Crystal Reports installation offers the end user an add-on reporting package for an accounting program.

The support:

It is an expansion into the world of mainstream data sources. Today, Crystal Reports installation supports more than one hundred different types of data sources. In order for Crystal Reports installation to support a multitude of data sources while preserving a consistent user experience, the support for each of the data sources is provided via a dedicated driver.

Crystal Reports installation helps to determine which database driver to use to connect to a certain business oriented data source. The installation of the technology results in a better performance while presenting the business report to the dedicated end users. The installation and application of the software marketed by Crystal are business specific and help the presenter and report designer to display a well formatted business report.
